Athlete Bio
Stephanie Casey
"I have been race walking on and off since I was 10 years old, competing internationally in 2008, 2010, and now again in 2019." Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Stephanie first caught the race walking bug in elementary school, coached by her father, also a race walker. While at McKay High School in Salem, Oregon, she ran cross country and track, and during her freshman year at Oregon State University, laced up for a marathon. It was during her recovery from that marathon that Stephanie placed her focus once again on the race walk. Since that time, she has raced in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Trials, and competed internationally at the 2008 Race Walking Cup in Russia, 2010 Race Walking Cup in Mexico and 2019 Pan Am Games in Peru. Stepahnie will take on her fourth Olympic Trials in 2020 with an eye on the Tokyo Games.
"I am balancing a lot more than the typical elite athlete, I have a family and a career. It is challenging for sure, but brings so much meaning and joy to my sport." Stephanie's time off the roads is shared with her four children, spouse, and a career as a practicing family medicine physician.
