Training to be an Olympian is more than a full-time job. Your support will make a huge difference as I pursue my dream to represent the USA, and as I seek to make a difference in my community. Thank you!
Born in Hazel Crest, IL, Melissa attended Marian Catholic High School. Following a successful prep campaign in Illinois, Melissa brought her talents to the University of Oregon, where she earned a degree in Human Physiology with a minor in Biology. Finishing in just 3 years, Melissa began a graduate program in clinical exercise physiology in the fall of her 4th year and completed her Master of Science degree in 2012.
While competing for the Ducks, Melissa was a 7-time All-American, a Pac-10 and NCAA…
Melissa had an accessory bone in each of her ankles, a condition known as Os Trigonum. She had surgery in 2011 to remove the extra bone from her take off leg (left). She has also had 2 stress fractures.
