Melinda Withrow

Montana to the core, Melinda Withrow attended Polson High School prior to crossing the western border to attend the University of Idaho, where she earned a degree in elementary education. While jumping for the Vandals, Melinda set (and still holds) the school records in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault, and was named an All-American her senior season. Now an Assistant Coach for the University of Montana, where she splits her training time with the World Athletics Center in Phoenix, Melinda has her sights set on Rio,…

  • Philanthropic involvement: Mountain West Youth Club, Athletes For Hope, Flatware Foundation, Special Olympics
  • Training hurdles: I struggled for most of my career with an ankle injury, and was able to make a full comeback last year after bone marrow and placenta cell procedures
  • Hobbies: Backpacking, fly fishing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, hunting, horseback riding, and pretty much anything that has to do with being in the mountains
  • Training Groups: Mountain West Track Club & World Athletic Center
