Athlete Bio
Meghan Peyton
Born with the love of travel in her genes, Meghan is the daughter of a Navy fighter pilot and attended nine different schools in three different countries (USA, Norway, and Germany). Eventually finishing her primary education at Tualatin High School in a town by the same name in Oregon, Meghan then found her way to the University of Iowa, where she earned a degree in Integrative Physiology. While competing for the Hawkeyes, she truly showed her range as a top-tier athlete, earning All-American honors in the mile, cross country, and the 10k, en route to adding the Big Ten Medal of Honor to her accolades. Now running with Minnesota Distance Elite in Minneapolis, Meghan continues to show her vast ability, placing in the top 10 at National Championships ranging from the mile to the marathon.
In addition to competing at the highest level, Meghan is the head coach of the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams at Div. III Augsburg College. She states, "I enjoy helping these young athletes become informed citizens, thoughtful stewards, critical thinkers and responsible leaders." She also took advantage of the opportunity to expand her education with this institution, recently earning a Master of Arts in Leadership.
Not just a dynamic runner, Meghan is also a certified PADI Open Water SCUBA Diver, and her favorite place that she has been diving is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
