Born in Inglewood and currently training in Valencia, Lashinda is long-time California resident, attending Long Beach Wilson High. She took hiatus from the Golden State to attend University of South Carolina. While competing for the Gamecocks, Lashinda took the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Championship and 2003 Indoor Championship in the 400 meter hurdles. Since graduation, her many honors include two gold, two silver, and a bronze medal in World Championships, an Olympic silver medal in London, and four USA Outdoor Championships. Lashinda also holds the American record. All this, and she is still going strong. Lashinda aspires to be the fist woman to run the 400 hurdles under 52 seconds.

Did we mention that the American record, a World Championship Gold, and Olympic Silver were all obtained after Lashinda had twins? The mother of two boys works extremely hard and is serious about the legacy she leaves for her family and the sport. Off the track, Lashinda enjoys reading, cooking, fashion, and building the Lashinda Demus Foundation.
