Casimir Loxsom
"I'm very proud of my roots. Being a New Englander is important to me, I love the city I'm from and all the culture that goes with it." Casimir was born and raised in New Haven, CT where he attended Wilbur Cross High School and was a regional standout. His successes in the middle distance races started early, as the 2009 New England 600 meter indoor champion and the Connecticut state outdoor champion in the 800. For college, Casimir would make his way inland to join the Nittany Lions of Penn State, where he earned a degree in Communication Arts & Science. While competing in the blue and white, Casimir set the school record in the indoor 600, was part of the school record-setting DMR squad, and brought home the runner-up medal in 800 at the 2013 NCAA Championships. Casimir has continued to excel on the biggest stages, setting an American record in the 600i with a 2015 USA Championship, and joined Team USA at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.
"I'm a huge fan of our sport. I love the shot put, I love the triple jump, I love pole vault and the marathon...I just am a track fan." For Casimir, he loves to run FAST, and his favorite part of being a runner has always been laying it on the line and showing his speed. Further, Casimir is genuinely invested in the successes of his teammates, stating, "That's a trait that a lot of us share and I think it's pretty unique in a sport that's less team focused after college."
"I may be the only Miami Dolphins fan that isn't in Miami." On his path when his competitive days are through, Casimir's interests are just as diverse, "If you told me that in ten years I would be a college coach, agent, working at a vineyard, consulting for businesses or owning a restaurant...none of those options would surprise me. I have a lot of things I enjoy and am passionate about. The next step after track will evolve into something fun and fulfilling when it's time to do so."
