Miranda Melville earns 10th National Title

For the 5th consecutive year, Miranda Melville has won the USATF 15K senior women’s National Race Walking Championships in Riverside, California. Her win came just 1 week after she raced at the World Race Walk Team Championships in Rome, Italy where she was the top American finisher, 38th out of a field of 105, in the women’s 20k race walk.

Miranda Melville won USATF 15K Women’s National Race Walking Championships and the Perona Cup in Riverside California on Sunday.

This is Miranda’s 10th National Title. She said, “I was still tired from traveling and racing in Rome last weekend and I have also been battling a cold, so I am just happy to be feeling better. The 15km is always well organized and a fun race to do, and now it is time to focus on Olympic Trials”.

Next on the itinerary for the Women’s Sports Foundation and Rochester Amateur Athletic Federation Grant recipient, is USA Olympic Trials on June 30th in Salem OR with medals awarded on July 1st in Eugene OR at historic Hayward Field.

Coach and 2 x Olympian Tim Seaman said, “after being away for almost 3 weeks the 15k Nationals was a great way to kick start training for the Olympic Trials and for the Olympic games in Rio. Now all of our focus will be put toward solidifying Miranda’s spot on the US team and excelling in Rio.”
