Dathan Ritzenhein announced that he will not be running Boston. In a heartfelt announcement on Twitter, he wrote, “After sustaining a SI joint injury last week in practice, I have not been able to train for the last week,” followed by, “Like so many times before, I will heal and get back out there. These moments, while horrible now, make the success so rewarding.” He finished the note wishing luck to all Boston runners. Last week Sara Hall announced she was missing Boston also due to an SI joint injury.

Maria Michta-Coffey earned a spot on the IAAF World Championships team. Following her first place finish at the 20K Race Walk Trials in Philadelphia with a time of 1:32:09, Maria will represent the USA in Taicang, China the first weekend in May.
Tyler Andrews will attempt the 50K World Record on Friday in Santa Barbara, CA. “Tyler’s record attempt will be run on the track. They’ll start off going counter-clockwise and then switch directions mid-run. In order to break the record, Tyler will need to run 5:16 per mile or 2:18:05 through the marathon and keep going for a little less than 5 more miles. New Jersey New York Track Club will run the Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K to raise funds for the Special Olympics New Jersey. “The Special Olympics New Jersey is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.” Running in the event from NJNYTC are Johnny Gregorek, Kyle Merber, Chris Geisting, Meron Simon, Kenyetta Iyevbele, Nicole Schappert Tully, Waverly Neer, Stephanie Van Pelt, Heather Wilson, and Stephanie Schappert. The Collegiate Running Association announced their field for their 10K Championships. “The entry list for the collegiate 10k championship boasts perhaps the strongest men’s and women’s fields since the first annual 10k Championships in 2014. A slew of undergraduate and graduate runners, along with a handful of strong local runners, should make for a deep and competitive field. The women’s field will also be powerful up front, led by four U.S. Olympic Team Trials qualifiers.” The event will take place as part of the Ukrops Monument Ave 10K in Richmond, VA.
