Stephanie Garcia won the VCU Health 8k, which is run in conjunction with the Richmond Marathon and Half-Marathon, in a time of 25:39. “A former All-American at the University of Virginia, Garcia specializes in the steeplechase and mile running. Michael Stigler shares tips for high schoolers in the 110mH, 110mH, and 300mH hurdles, in addition to what he loves about track and field (video). “The 400 meter hurdles is an event made by sadists. Combine the 400 meters, which means you are running on pure guts from 300 meters on, and add ten hurdles. Jared Ward have been selected to provide analysis during the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships. With
Kara Goucher on the women’s side, Jared Ward will provide commentary to the Men’s DI Championship, and Neely Gracey will do the same for the women’s DII analyst and broadcaster.

Team USA Minnesota went H*A*M. at the USATF Minnesota Cross Country Championships, bringing home 1st and 2nd in both the men’s and women’s races. Ryan Rutherford,
Kevin Lewis,
Breanna Sieracki, and Katy Moen took those honors, respectively.
Esther Atkins ran the Richmond Half in an effort in which she wasn’t, “racing anybody else on the course other than who I was yesterday and last week.” After the race, she said, “One of the hardest things in running is owning your current fitness even when it isn’t your best – or anywhere close to it. My finishing time wasn’t great for me – 3:30 over my PR with a 1:17:16, but I’m proud of my ability to execute the plan according to my current fitness instead of holding myself to currently unattainable standards.” via @erbyatkins on Instagram

Chaunte Lowe has officially been upgraded to the bronze medal in the high jump from the Beijing Games in 2008. “In Beijing, Lowe initially finished sixth in the 2008 Olympic high jump with a height of 1.99m/6-6.25. In late 2016, third-place finisher Anna Chicherova of Russia, fourth-place finisher Yelena Slesarenko of Russia, and fifth-place finisher Vita Palamar of Ukraine were disqualified after testing positive for banned substances in retests of their Beijing Games samples.
