The California International Marathon

By now, you have probably already heard that  Tim Ritchie and  Sara Hall came away from the event as USA Marathon Champions. Fortunately for us running fans, that is not the only story-line coming out of this event, in which 54 (!!) women hit the 2020 Olympic Trials Marathon standard. In that group are some major PR earners, including:

  •  Samantha Bluske, lowering her personal best from 2:36:26 to 2:31:55 en route to a 4th place finish
  •  Kaitlin Goodman, with a major 7 minute drop in her PR, to 2:32:08 along with a 5th place showing
  •  Nicole DiMercurio, bringing home 11th place setting a personal best with a time of 2:36:01
  •  Meghan Peyton, taking her PR down by a minute and a half to 2:37:33 for 14th place
  •  Sarah Pease, finishing 16th with a time of 2:38:19 in just her second marathon, besting her previous time by 3+ minutes

The XTERRA Trail Run World Championships

Joseph Gray repeats as XTERRA Trail Run World Champion in the Half Marathon. He wins so much, that we’re pretty sure T-Pain is starting to get an inferiority complex. Check out this nice feature on Joseph and the event:

Neely Gracey shares a peek into her world, including her training, recovery, coaching business, and day-to-day routine. “That brings me to the here and now: I’m a puppy mom of our vizsla, Strider. My husband Dillon and I love our life in Colorado soaking in the sun while running, biking, hiking and being outside! I started my coaching business Get Running in 2013, and it has grown steadily each year. I’ve become a better athlete since I started coaching because as I help my clients I remind myself of what my strengths and weaknesses are. I’m excited to have the opportunity to share my week with you!” Read the full feature, The Runner Diaries — Neely Gracey, on Running From Your Problems

Brenda Martinez and New Balance will continue their connection through 2020. “I am Honored and Proud to announce that I have renewed my contract with New Balance through the end of 2020! This will mark a 10 year relationship. I can’t express the love I have for my job, forever grateful!” via Brenda on Twitter

Trey Hardee is inducted into the University of Texas Hall of Honor. “There’s very few things you can put on that make you feel that much better; its just stitching and color, but it is what those things kind of represented and the team that I had.”
