Whitney Ashley took home the hardward from the Tucson Elite Throws Classic, with a winning discus throw of 60.19m (197' 6"). She shares insight from her performance and the event with followers on AthleteBiz.
This marks only the second year I have competed at the Tucson Elite meet. It falls about a month before USA Nationals so it gave me a good idea as to where my competitors are at or what they are working on. Certainly, one could be pleased with a win, but for me it was a bit mediocre weekend. I base my performances off of consistency and execution and quite frankly I did not do either (chuckling). However, I am excited to continue to prepare for big throws and I had a great time in Tucson. It has become a thrower's utopia with music, great energy and good competition.
